How to Ask Nail Salon Customers for Google Reviews
Ask salon customers for honest Google reviews with a consistent invitation, a working review link and a staff process that avoids incentives and review gating.

Invite customers to describe their genuine experience, make the review link easy to use and keep the request optional. Use a consistent process across customers rather than asking only people you expect to leave a positive rating. Keep service recovery separate from public-review requests.
A simple invitation staff can use
Thank you for visiting us today. If you would like to share your experience, you can leave an honest review using this link. Your feedback helps other guests understand our salon.
Adapt the wording to your salon’s voice. Do not tell customers which rating to select or write the review for them. A QR code at checkout can be convenient, but test that it opens the correct salon profile on a phone.
Build a fair request process
- Choose a normal point in the customer journey, such as checkout or an appropriate follow-up.
- Use the same neutral invitation for eligible customers.
- Provide a verified review link or QR code.
- Make declining easy and avoid repeated pressure.
- Assign someone to read and respond to feedback.
Keep rewards and reviews separate
Google’s review guidance prohibits incentives in exchange for posting, changing or removing reviews. Do not offer discounts, gifts or contest entries for a review. Do not route happy customers to Google while sending dissatisfied customers only to a private form.
You can provide a private support channel to everyone. The problem arises when it becomes a filter that suppresses public feedback from unhappy guests. Train staff to offer help because the issue deserves attention, without conditioning that help on a review outcome.
If you use email or text
Use a channel the business is permitted to use for that customer and follow applicable messaging, consent and opt-out requirements. Do not assume that possession of a phone number authorizes every promotional message. Keep the message brief, identify the salon and avoid unnecessary personal appointment details.
Measure the process without pressuring staff
Track whether the link works, whether staff understand the invitation and whether feedback is reviewed promptly. Avoid incentives for staff based only on five-star counts; that can encourage selective requests. Read recurring themes alongside the numbers and use them to improve the actual visit.
A healthy review process creates a more reliable picture of the business. It is not a promise of a particular rating or a guaranteed Google Maps position.
